In
the 1860s, Dr. George Crane purchased property near St. Helena in
Napa Valley. In 1879, he enlarged the simple farmhouse on the estate
into Sunny Acres. The history of this lovely Victorian home is still
on view in the parlor, which boasts photographs of Dr. Crane and
his wife Frances, as well as their piano and several pieces of their
furniture.
In 1927, John Salvestrin, a immigrant from northern Italy, moved
to St. Helena and purchased the Crane property. Today, John's son
Ed and Ed's wife Susanne imbue the Sunny Acres bed-and-breakfast
with a warm, family atmosphere that makes their guests feel right
at home. As you look out your bedroom window, you may see Ed tending
his prized grapevines. Or visit the kitchen to join Susanne, former
pastry chef at Sutter Home Winery, while she prepares a delicious
country breakfast. The town of St. Helena, famous for its restaurants,
shopping, and nearby wineries is within easy walking distance.
Sunny
Acres rooms have a queen size bed, private
bathroom and shower. We happily take one-night reservations!
